Biocon appoints Mayank Verma as Company Secretary, Compliance Officer

Prior to joining the Biocon Group, Mayank Verma has worked with ING Vysya Bank Limited from 2007 to 2012.


New Delhi: Biotechnology major, Biocon has recently announced that its board has approved the appointment of Mayank Verma, as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of the Company on July 25, 2019.


Mayank Verma, a member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India ('ICSI') and also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration ('MBA') from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

He has over 14 years of experience in the field of secretarial and listing compliances, corporate governance, statutory compliances, corporate laws and allied compliances/laws.


He has been associated with the Biocon Group since 2012. He was formerly, the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of Syngene International Limited, a research arm of the Company. He successfully got Syngene listed on the Indian stock exchanges (NSE and BSE) during his tenure.


Prior to joining the Biocon Group, he has worked with ING Vysya Bank Limited from 2007 to 2012.


Based in Bangalore, Biocon manufactures generic active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that are sold in over 120 countries across the globe, including the developed markets of the United States and Europe. It also manufactures novel biologics, as well as, biosimilar insulins and antibodies, which are sold in India as branded formulations.


The company's biosimilar products are also sold in both bulk and formulation forms in several emerging markets. In research services, Syngene International Limited (Syngene), a publicly listed subsidiary of Biocon, is engaged in the business of integrated end-to-end drug discovery and development services.
