    Virinchi Hospitals partners with MedGenome to offer Molecular diagnostics

    Hyderabad: Virinchi Hospitals, a subsidiary of Hyderabad-based IT company Virinch Limited has partnered with MedGenome, a genomics-based diagnostics and research company for Molecular Diagnostics.


    With this collaboration, Virinchi Hospitals would be able to offer a wide range of genetic tests concerned with various specialties including cardiology, ophthalmology, oncology, neurology, nephrology, diabetes, dermatology, hematology connective tissue and metabolic disorders to their patients with enhanced precision in order to provide most suitable and personalized care across all the age groups and genders belonging to diverse geographical origins, Virinchi Hospitals, Medical Director Dr Murthy Nekkanti told media here on Tuesday.


    Dr. Murthy said that the aim of this collaboration was to help the clinician which molecular information for accuracy as well as precise diagnosis, prognosis, and management of the multitude of diseases that have a genetic basis. And Genetic testing has gradually been gaining prominence and significance in terms of effectively diagnosing and managing many rates of common diseases such as Spinal muscular atrophy, Huntington's disease and Inborn errors of metabolism.


    " Our Collaboration with Medgenone shall certainly keep us in a favourable position to offer molecular testing services more competently to our patients", he said.


    MedGenome Vice President, Clinical Services Dr. Chirantan Bose said this partnership would bring affordable and high-quality genetic testing to the patients of Virinchi Hospitals. He said India has a huge burden of genetic disorders and it was imperative to embrace genomic solutions for the benefit of the public at large.


    MedGenome's continuous innovation was helping reduce the costs of previously expensive genetic tests, Dr. Bose said and added MedGenome currently offers more than 400 genetic tests across key disease areas with a network of more than 500 hospitals for diagnostics in India and 50 plus research collaborations globally.


    At present, MedGenome offering genetic solutions from its state-of-art-laboratory at Bangalore, Dr. Bose said and added the company is planning to set up one more laboratory at Cochin, Kerala and also looking others places with the partnership.
