Stern action to be taken against erring drug manufacturers: HP Health Minister

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Government is committed to providing better health facilities to people in the state and no compromise will be made in the matter of health-related issues, said Health Minister Vipin Parmar.

He said Himachal Pradesh is a hub of pharma industry where reputed national and multinational companies have drug manufacturing plants located in different parts of the state.

He said quality should also be maintained in the production of drugs being manufactured in the state. Stern action will be taken against the erring drug manufacturers whose samples of the drug have failed recently.

Health Department undertakes sampling of drugs in the state from time to time to ascertain the quality of medicines. He said it was unfortunate that 33 samples out of 1,065 samples of drugs collected by the department failed in quality norms.

He said as the matter was related to the health of persons, the manufacturing companies should adhere to the norms of the pharmaceutical industry and all possible precautions be taken in the production line. In case the samples of company fail it could be blacklisted as the life of human beings was precious.
