    RAID: Fake bills worth Rs 4.5 crore seized from various pharma units in Himachal

    Under the supervision of US Rana, Joint Commissioner Taxation and Sale Enforcement seized fake bills amounting to about Rs 40 crore during the raids on nine such Pharma units, so far.


    Shimla: An Excise and Taxation Sleuth seized fake bills of inward supplies amounting to Rs 4.5 crore during a raided conducted on various Pharma Manufacturing units in the industrial area of Barotiwala in Solan district on Tuesday.


    A Spokesperson of the Excise and Taxation Department said here that a team of Joint Commissioner of State Taxes and Excise, South Enforcement Zone Parwanoo, under the supervision of US Rana, Joint Commissioner Taxation and Sale Enforcement, seized fake bills amounting to about Rs 40 crore during the raids on nine such Pharma units, so far.


    During one such raid, cash of Rs 61 lakh was found and the Income Tax department was informed about it. Notices to other 25 Units are also being issued, who have received supplies from fake companies.

    He said the main supplier of these bills was a trading firm, which has also been tracked. Its owner is a small-time employee living in labour quarters and earning a salary of Rs 15000 per month. Total tax evasion in these cases may cross Rs 10 crore.


    More such fake firms supplying fake bills are suspected and an investigation is going on. Action against such other defaulters would be initiated, he added.
