Pulwama Strike: Zydus, Macleods pharma suspend medical representatives over anti-national comments

Srinagar: Two renowned pharmaceutical companies in the country, were recently seen taking strict action against two of their employees after it was discovered that they were engaging in Anti-National comments on social media on the Pulwama Strikes. One of the two happened to be a medical representative.

It is reported that two Kashmiri residents working with leading pharmaceuticals namely, Macleods Pharma and Zydus Cadila Healthcare posted “anti-national” comments on social media, glorifying the act. In response to this inhumane act, the companies immediately suspended the two.

The massacre contrived on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama. Over 40 CRPF personnel were martyred in the IED explosion.

Shortly after the terror strike, social media was flooded with feeds expressing grief, anger and condolence to the departed souls. However, a post by the Riyaz Ahmed Wani, a medical representative with the Srinagar branch of the Macleods was shockingly grave. His Facebook wall post read, "Athh wanaaan surgical strike” which means, “This is called a surgical strike”.

The post evoked serious counterblast and the company immediately issued him a suspension letter. The letter reads, “Because of your this anti-national message on the social network, the Company has started receiving furious comments/reactions, which are not only defaming our organization but tarnishing the image and questioning us as to why such anti-national element exists in our organization.”

“In view of the above, you are hereby asked to Show Cause in writing within seven days from the receipt hereof, as to why your services should not be terminated with immediate effect for your above anti-national attitude," the letter added.

The company also termed the act as “grave and serious in nature”

The letter further added, “If we do not receive any written, proper and satisfactory explanation from you within the above stipulated period, we shall presume that you have no explanation to offer and we shall terminate your services immediately.”

Meanwhile, another MR, Iqbal Hussain from Srinagar who works as Marketing Executive in the Respicare Division of Ahmedabad-based Zydus Healthcare in the city has also been suspended by the company for posting an “anti-national” comment on Wani’s post.

The letter issued by Zydus reads,” Because of your aforesaid anti-national comments on social network the company' s name and image got tarnished and Management has also started receiving furious reactions and questioning why such anti-national elements exit in the company.”

The company has told Hussain it shall “terminate your services immediately” “if no explanation is received within a period of 48 hours from receipt of this letter”. In the meantime, the companies have suspended Wani and Iqbal from duty with immediate effect.
