Pluss® Advanced Technologies, the winner of the National Technology Day Innovation Award for its patent-pending device MiraCradle® to treat Birth Asphyxia, announces the signing of a collaboration agreement with Dräger, an international leader in the fields of medical and safety technology.

Birth asphyxia, or lack of oxygen at birth, is one of the leading causes of infant mortality in low and middle-income countries. The World Health Organization estimates that over 650,000 babies worldwide die from birth asphyxia each year. Those who survive the condition often suffer serious and irreparable damage that can result in lifelong physical and mental disabilities.

Developed in collaboration with CMC Vellore, MiraCradle® - Neonate Cooler is the world's first affordable, non-electronic, portable device based on savE® Phase Change Materials (PCMs) which helps in cooling the baby and maintains the core body temperature precisely between 33-34⁰C for a period of 72 hours.

"Technology for a better world has been the motto at Pluss®. That we could help overcome such a huge disease burden sowed the seed of development of MiraCradle®", says Samit Jain, Managing Director at Pluss®.

"With over 200 installations and thousands of babies now successfully treated on MiraCradle® in India, it's time to share this standard of care practice globally", added Udit Mangal, Business Manager at Pluss®. "In this endeavour, Pluss® and Dräger are joining hands to leverage each other's strengths and to help bring this to as many lower and middle-income group countries as possible. The immediate focus is to be able to make this available in the countries of Asia and Africa and later also South America."
