Infosys grants Rs 8cr to Asia Heart Foundation for Robotic Surgery
Chennai: Infosys Foundation has gone into a collaboration with the Asia Heart Foundation by signing an MOU with the latter to enable adoption of robotic surgery in Healthcare.
The Infosys Foundation has granted Rs. 8 crores to the Asia Heart Foundation as part of the agreement to purchase high end equipment namely the IS 3000 da Vinci Si system to enable robotic surgeries.
Patients would have access to affordable and high quality, minimally invasive surgeries through the installation and use of the Da Vinci System.
The aim behind infosys acquiring this new robotic surgery facility is to reduce morbidity in complex surgeries and the Average Length of Stay (ALOS) for keyhole and laparoscopic surgeries.
A part of the fund would go into training surgeons and provide research opportunities to them for making use of robots in complex surgeries, and also indigenize the production of this technology in India.
97 surgeons would be trained in the next seven years by the Asia Heart Foundation which would benefit 1,900 patients.
