Government commercialised ayurvedic medicines for diabetes, arthritis
Drugs by the name AYUSH 82 commercialized for Type II Diabetes Mellitus and AYUSH SG for rheumatoid arthritis said Shripad Naik.
He also informed that Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) has filed for patent D5 Chooranam, a drug for Diabetes Mellitus
The Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) has developed Drugs like Coleus forskohlii, Catharanthus roseus, Cyclosporinum, Azathioprium, Buxus sempervirens, Cynara scolymus, Persea americana, and Withania somnifera.
Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) has filled Patents for five Unani drugs on filariasis, hepatitis, ulcer, vitiligo and malaria.
"In addition, the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) also conducts research for development of herbal drugs and formulations. It has developed BGR-34 for diabetes, Risorine for tuberculosis and anti-arthritis formulation for osteoarthritis," Naik added.
