GE Healthcare selected as preferred radiology partner for IUIH Medicities being set up across 11 states in India

New Delhi: GE Healthcare, a global leader in medical technologies and services, has been selected as a preferred technology partner in radiology by Indo-UK Institute of Health (IUIH) for its IUIH Medicities programme in India.

The announcement was made at the India-UK Technology Summit in New Delhi held last month. Liam Fox. Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, Government of UK, chaired the round table where the partnership was announced.

The partnership between GE Healthcare and IUIH will create and deliver significant value throughout the continuum of diagnostic imaging, driven by a combination of high-technology premium products, clinical training and world-class customer services, according to a statement.

The partnership also includes setting up of a training and education centre on the campus of one of IUIH’s Medicities with GE Healthcare providing course content and skill creation training programmes to the students.

“The partnership with GE Healthcare is set to redefine the existing paradigms in the healthcare industry,” Ajay Rajan Gupta, Managing Director and Group CEO, IUIH, said, adding, “With this partnership, we will have access to not just the best in radiology imaging products, but also world-class customer after-care, training and ongoing R&D, which will benefit patients in India.”

“We are delighted and proud to partner with IUIH Medicities in their endeavour to bring best-in-class healthcare delivery to India,” said Milan Rao, President and CEO, GE Healthcare, South Asia and India.

“At GE Healthcare our mission is to work for a healthier India and a healthier world. This partnership with IUIH is a significant step in this journey and will help create industry leading solutions for the benefit of people in India,” added Rao.

On November 12, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed a Health Collaboration Agreement with UK Prime Minister David Cameron to support the development of 11 IUIH Medicities across 11 states in India over a 20-year period.

The vision is for each Medicity to be a centre of excellence which will attract patients from all over India and abroad. Each IUIH will offer patients world-class services in terms of clinical expertise in a modern, technology-led hospital, a medical college, a nursing college, a post-graduate training centre, a global standard research & development centre and medical manufacturing facilities.

The IUIH facilities’ global expertise both in operations and research will be supported by collaboration with the UK National Health Service (NHS) and partnerships with leading international healthcare industry companies and international partners in research, education, manufacturing and healthcare delivery.
