    Bengaluru: Mylan Hackathon 2018 Winners announced
    BENGALURU: Mylan Pharmaceuticals Private Limited announced the winners of its second edition of the Mylan Hackathon held in Bengaluru. The two-day event took place on October 13 and14, at Mylan’s Global Centre in the city, where students and professionals connected and collaborated with people at Mylan to innovate solutions that address real-world health challenges.

    Commenting on the initiative, Mylan spokesperson Mr Rakesh Bamzai, President – India and Emerging Markets said, “We are proud to be one of the few pharmaceutical companies in the world to host a hackathon for digital innovation. Initiatives such as these foster engagement and collaboration between students, professionals and institutions, to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for real-world health problems and enhance access to affordable medicines. At Mylan, the Hackathon initiative focuses not only on the current challenges in Healthcare but also on developing solutions for the future.”

    This year, the Hackathon teams were asked to ‘Hack for a Cause’ to find solutions to leading healthcare challenges such as adverse event/side effect reporting of pharmaceutical products; detection of early signs and symptoms of cancer and addressing the resource scarcity problem by automating preliminary analysis of reports; a patient’s real-world outcome tracking through technology/AI; patient adherence to TB treatment and traceability of Mylan’s ARV drugs to the end consumer.

    The 2018 event attracted more than 200 participants from 44 cities across India who were joined by Mylan employees and Mylan coaches. The two-day event included top-notch giveaways, spot quizzes and a session with Shakthi Vadakkepat, founder of The Quill, who spoke to the participants about innovation-driven solutions to today's medical problems.

    One of the members of the winning team Mr Ganesh Mahadevan said, “This event was an exceptional learning platform for me. It allowed me to interact and collaborate with brilliant like-minded innovators to develop solutions that could have a positive impact on patients and the industry. I believe that anyone who wants to find viable solutions for health problems should participate in the Mylan Hackathon.”

    Mylan held its first hackathon in India in 2016and has since been fueling the push for new creative and innovative solutions in the healthcare segment for patients, payers, providers and other healthcare professionals.
