Bayer arm liable for farmer sickness over weedkiller

PARIS: A French appeals court has ruled that Bayer's Monsanto arm was liable for the health problems of a farmer who had inhaled a Monsanto weedkiller product, said a spokeswoman for the German company.

The ruling in the long-running French case comes as Monsanto faces lawsuits in the United States over alleged cancer links to its glyphosate-based weedkillers.
