Tamil Nadu: Pharmacist stabbed to death inside Sivaganga Medical College Hospital

Sivaganga: In an unfortunate incident, a pharmacist who worked in the Sivaganga Medical College Hospital was brutally stabbed to death by a youth. The reason cited for the gruesome murder was that the deceased befriended the youth's mother and the duo was allegedly involved in an illegitimate affair. A complaint has been registered and the youth has been held by the town police.

The case relates to a man who was a temporary employee in the Government Medical College pharmacy in Sivaganga. As per recent media reports, the victim was giving medicines to the out-patients in the hospital when a youth approached him.

The youth picked up an argument with the victim which soon turned into a quarrel. With the quarrel turning intense, the accused pulled out a knife that he carried along with him and stabbed the pharmacist multiple times on his chest and in the abdomen. The victim was logged in a pool of blood and died on the spot.

After killing the victim, the accused sat near the dead body while the people were shell shocked at the sight. The accused fled before the people could react.

Higher police officers including Sivaganga district superintendent of police T Jayachandran visited the spot and conducted an inquiry. The accused was soon held by the local police.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused's mother and the victim were involved in an illegitimate affair. Despite his warning, the duo did not put an end to the affair. This has led to frequent quarrels between the son and the mother.

A month ago, the two reportedly went missing from their respective houses for a couple of days. When the accused ringed the victim, he allegedly replied the youth to look for her in other places “as she might have eloped with someone else”. Annoyed over the reply, the youth went to the hospital and killed the pharmacist.
