Sun Pharma cheated of Rs 1.6 crore by two employees

The duo used to falsify purchase orders and goods received memo (GRM) and reportedly duped the pharma major of Rs 1.6 crore


Vadodara: Drug major, Sun Pharma has fallen in limelight after media reports that the company has been cheated of over Rs 1.6 crore by two of its employees.


The two accused have been recently booked for double-dealing the pharma giant of over Rs 1.6 crore. The duo used to falsify purchase orders and goods received memo (GRM) with unidentified persons from one Ghanshyam Trading Company. They were allegedly accompanied by certain anonymous persons of this firm that deals in laboratory apparatus from Salatwada


The accused employees have been identified as Ashwin Palkhade, a senior store manager and Dilip Gandhi, a store executive.


The irregular activities came to light when the contract employees of the company became suspicious of their dealings and informed the Human Resource Department. An inspection of the financial records of goods for the months of August and September was done. The audit disclosed that 4,685 bottles of acetonitrate, 9,638 bottles of methanol and 45 boxes of hand gloves were never received, but the payment was made on the basis of GRM. The undelivered products are worth over Rs 1.6 crore.


Soon it became clear that the two employees had placed an order with the company which was more than the requisition placed with them.


Explaining their Modus Operandi, cops told TOI that the two accused used to get the challan of the additional undelivered goods from the accused in the trading company directly and on the basis of which they used to prepare a forged GRM to submit it to accounts department for payment. “The contract employees of store department were supposed to sign on the challan to keep a check on any irregularities therefore the accused used to get the challan of undelivered goods directly,” the police official told the daily.


Based on the complaint the two have now been booked by the police
