Roche Diabetes Care eyes 51 percent market share in India by 2019
New Delhi: Roche Diabetes Care India is aiming to have up to 51 percent market share in blood glucose monitoring segment in the country by the end of 2019, a top company official said.
Roche Diabetes Care is a part of Swiss healthcare major Roche. It sells blood glucose monitoring device under the Accu-Chek brand.
"We are planning to have 51 percent market share in the blood glucose monitoring segment in India by end of 2019," Roche Diabetes Care India MD Sidhartha Roy told.
Currently, the company has around 48 percent market share in the country, he added.
The diabetes monitoring industry in India has just touched 10 percent of the population with diabetes, which is around 70 million, he added.
"As per International Diabetes Federation numbers, India has 70 million people with diabetes," Roy said.
For increasing its presence, the company is looking to popularise diabetes monitoring concept in India and is also planning to expand its retail presence.
"We are looking at increasing the number of retail outlets in the country that we cover directly to one lakh from the present 50,000 outlets in next five years," Roy said.
The company is a market leader in the monitoring segment in India and has a pivotal role in leading the monitoring concept in the country, he added.
"For the diabetes care segment, Asia Pacific region is the fastest growing region and India is one of the fastest growing markets in Asia Pacific," Roy said.
Roche Diabetes Care India became a separate operational entity in November 2016.
