Pharmacist arrested for selling Tydol Tablets in bulk sans prescription

During the investigation, it was revealed that the two deceased had an overdose of the drug (Tydol tablets) that they had taken for pleasure which led to their death. They also purchased the drug from the pharmacist sans prescription in bulk to resell the drugs at a higher price.

Bengaluru: A 36-year-old pharmacist has been arrested for allegedly selling a painkiller, Tydol tablets without a prescription that led to the death of two youngsters.

Tydol tablet is an analgesic which is used to treat mild to severe pain. This medicine may cause addiction hence it suggested to take the drug under the supervision of a medical practitioner.

The case relates to a city-based pharmacist who owns a pharmacy shop, Mandeep Pharma in Rajajinagar. As per recent media accounts, on November 17, two youths arrived at his store and allegedly bought Tydol tablets, syringes and distilled water.

Thereafter, they invited one of their friends at his place. The trio powdered the tablets and diffused it in distilled water and injected themselves with the prepared liquid.

Soon after the intake, two of them started experiencing severe heartache and passed away. The third youth developed serious health complications and is currently being treated in KIMS hospital.

He confessed the entire ordeal before Vyalikaval police. A probe was launched to investigate the death of two youths and the pharmacist has been arrested.

As per an officer, when the medical store was searched, it was found that the pharmacist had procured a huge quantity of Tydol tablets.

The pharmacist had confessed his crime of violating norms by selling the drugs sans prescription and was sent to judicial custody, suggests a media report in Deccan Chronicle.
