Patanjali to set up five institutes in Nagaland

Kohima: Nagaland State Chief Minister T R Zeliang announced a slew of investments made by the Patanjali Group in the state, after laying foundation stones for an Engineering College in Niuland under Dimapur district, a Para Medical and Nursing College, Ayurvedic College, Management College and a National Institute of Fashion Technology in Punglwa under Peren district.


According to an official release today the founder of Patanjali, a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company with estimated revenue of 1.7 billion US dollars, Swami Ramdev with close aide Bal Krishna Acharya were present during the programmes to announce these projects.


Ramdev stated that his mission is to see all of India as a healthy, scientific and secular country. He added that Patanjali is a company which supports self-sustainability and is a non-profitable organization.


Mr. Zeliang, while announcing the projects stated that the institution of Patanjali has become a household name in just about 12 years because its products have gained popularity across the country and beyond.


While appreciating Swami Ramdev and Acharya Bal Krishna for their noble gesture of investing in Nagaland for projects that are of utmost importance for the Nagas, Zeliang said that these projects would go a long way in bringing quality health care, jobs for the youths and an optional career in fashion.


This initiative of the Government of Nagaland includes a model wherein the government will provide land and Patanjali will invest in the projects.


The institutions, he said, have the potential to become centers of excellence not only in Nagaland but the entire North East. He also congratulated the Department of Higher and Technical Education for the initiatives.


Nagaland Adviser to Higher & Technical Education Thomas Lotha, who chaired the programme announced that 30 percent villagers will be selected from Punglwa and neighbouring villages for a tour programme to visit the Patanjali Company, for first-hand information and acquaintance, the release said.
