NPPA launches online grievance redressal helpline on orthopedic knee implants

New Delhi: Recently, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) had fixed the ceiling prices of orthopedic knee Implant systems. Now in this regard, through a recent notification, NPPA has launched online grievance redressal system for hospitals, doctors, and patients to lodge a complaint regarding the shortage of orthopedic knee Implant. NPPA has announced that for grievances, people can call NPPA toll-free helpline number 1800111255 or Message the complaint through WhatsApp on mobile number 986873278


The notification further has some pointers which are as follows:


A. As per the notification issued, all manufacturers/importers/marketers of orthopedic knee Implant system and the hospitals are required to comply with the notified ceiling price of orthopedic knee Implant system and to adhere to all the instructions issued in letter and spirit.


B. All manufacturers/importers are under legal obligation to maintain smooth production and supply of Orthopedic knee Implant system of all brands which were available in the country before price cap. The company’s manufacturing orthopedic knee Implant system in India has also been directed to maintain production/import/supply of orthopedic knee Implant system.


C. All hospitals, doctors and patients are hereby informed that if there is any shortage of the Orthopedic knee Implant system whose prices have been capped which is appearing as Table on at Para 9 of the above notification, are requested to inform National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority(NPPA) immediately about such shortage through any one of the following means:




  1. Call NPPA's toll-free helpline number 1800111255

  2. Lodge a complaint through grievance redressal system "PHARMA JAN SAMADHAN" by visiting the website of NPPA at www.nppaindia.nic.in and

  3. Message the complaint through WhatsApp on mobile number 9868732782

  4. Send an email to me.nppa2015@gmail.com.


D. Immediately after the receipt of the complaint, NPPA will initiate action on a priority basis to ensure the availability of knee Implant system at places where the shortage was reported.


E. All SDCs are hereby requested to carry out checks to ensure that all types of the Orthopedic knee Implant system which are appearing in the above-mentioned order of NPPA dated 16th August 2017 are available in hospitals and with distributors. If required, necessary inspections should be carried at the place of business of knee Implant system companies/distributors/hospitals under para 30 of DPCO, 2013 and take necessary action. A report in this regard may be sent to NPPA subsequently
