NPPA fixes prices of 50 FDC drugs and revises 4 others

New Delhi:Prices of 50 Drugs have been fixed, while 4 others revised, by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). This is part of the new drug pricing control order, notified on March 14, which effectively brings 200 more drug formulations under regulation.

40 other drugs are to be priced by the NPPA in the coming weeks, for which the NPPA has asked requisite information be provided to it, by the companies. 92 applications for evaluation are up with the NPPA for retail price fixation of new fixed dose combinations (FDC's), the authority informed the parliament on Friday, reports

The NPPA has issued directions to all pharmaceutical companies with pending FDC applications to submit signed declarations by designated authority that the FDC's put up by them have not been banned by the drug control authorities.

"At present, 92 applications for retail price fixation of new FDCs are under examination at NPPA," Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
