Medical Device Park: DoP to provide financial assistance to tune of Rs 25 crore; says MOS Health

Choubey further mentioned that DoP has received four proposals under this sub-scheme from Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone Ltd. (AMTZ), Andhra Pradesh; Telangana Medical Device Park, Telangana; Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), Kerala and HLL, Medipark Ltd (HML), Tamil Nadu.


New Delhi: The Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey informed the Parliament that financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 25 Crore or 70% of the project cost, whichever is less may be provided for creation of common facilities under any Medical Device Park promoted by State Governments and State Corporations under a sub-scheme of Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP).


This came following a query during a recent Lok Sabha session by Dipsinh Shankarasinh Rathod who sought details of medical device parks including their location, the time by which the said number of parks are likely to be set up.

In response to this, Choubey stated that DoPunder the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers has a sub-scheme namely, Assistance to Medical Device Industry for Common Facility Center under the umbrella scheme for Development of Pharmaceuticals Industry.


Under this sub-scheme, financial assistance to the tune of Rs.25 Crore or 70% of the project cost, whichever is less may be provided for the creation of common facilities under any Medical Device Park promoted by State Governments/State Corporations.


Choubey further mentioned that DoP has received four proposals under this sub-scheme from (i) Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone Ltd. (AMTZ), Andhra Pradesh, (ii) Telangana Medical Device Park, Telangana (iii) Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), Kerala & (iv) HLL, Medipark Ltd (HML), Tamil Nadu.


"Department of Pharmaceuticals has given ‘in-principle” approval to all the said proposals," Choubey added.
