Man detained for storing and selling banned Avil,Omgesic, Spasmo Proxivon, Lomotil

MOHALI: Mohali police recently detained a huge amount of banned medicines from a house in Phase VII and arrested a man but his partner in crime fled from the spot.


The seized medicines contain 40 injections of Avil-10ml, 40 injections of Omgesic, 1,944 capsules of Spasmo Proxivon, 2,250 tablets of Lomotil-50 and 2,250 tablets of Becalm-0.5 that are banned.


TOI reports that the accused are identified as Gurdeep Singh, a resident of house number 412, Phase VII and Ranjeet Singh a resident of house number HE-264, Phase VII and both were booked under Section 22 (Punishment for contravention in relation to psychotropic substances), 61 (Confiscation of goods used for concealing illicit drugs or substances) and 85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Mataur police station.


The police raided the house number 412 after getting a tip-off and the accused Ranjeet who was carrying a bag was nabbed whereas his partner Gurdeep fled the spot after seeing the police party. After searching the bag police found the banned medicines.


Police told TOI that during the preliminary investigation, Ranjeet revealed that Gurdeep Singh had bought these medicines and he was helping him to sell the same.
