When it comes to patient care, only a skilled and professionally trained medical team can ensure the best clinical outcome for the patient and his family. HealthCare at HOME India (HCAH) ensures that they consistently deliver excellent care to patients by periodically organizing hands on training programs. One significant initiative in this direction was HCAH Care Connect program where 1500 nurses across 5 cities were trained. This program reached its culmination at Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI), Gurgaon on 9th Sep, 2016 in which nurses participated with great enthusiasm. The workshop was held on Expert Course in Management of Airway and Ventilation and covered topics of protective pulmonary ventilation, acute respiratory distress syndrome, optimum PEEP for patient and pulmonary recruitment maneuvers.

Shikha Dass, one of the HCAH Nurses from Chandigarh who participated in the training shared her learnings, "This experience was extremely fruitful for us. The first half of the workshop was theory-centric and the second half was practical-focused in which we had to work in groups." Joyous, another HCAH Nurse from Delhi was also glad that she participated in the training, "The practical lessons will help me to serve my patients and their family members in a better way now."

"HealthCare at HOME addresses the challenge of shortage of doctors by training and empowering healthcare professionals so that the pressure of follow-up treatments is taken off from treating doctors and surgeons. In a way we help create a second line of healthcare professionals who are highly trained and equipped to carry forward treatment protocols set by the treating doctor", said Dr. Gaurav Thukral, Sr. Vice President & Business Unit Director, HCAH.

Over the last few years, there has been a rapid growth in home-based healthcare services. In India, there is only 1 hospital bed for every 1,050 patients1. The limited number of beds in hospitals demand an effective alternative such as home-based healthcare. Investment in home health care can reduce the gap of the high demands of quality care that hospitals alone cannot fulfill.

Home healthcare is gaining popularity among masses as they are time efficient and provide personalized home care without any compromise on clinical excellence and quality of care. Investment in the training of staff ensures that the medical care they provide is at par with renowned hospitals.
