AGRA: CDSCO issues notice to 72 drug stores for selling prohibited drugs

AGRA: In order to tighten the noose and track the network of illegal drug business allegedly taking place in Agra region for several months, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) is now shifting its focus to the drug stores in the area


.According to a recent media report, through the drug administration, CDSCO has issued notices to 72 registered medical stores regarding complaints of the sale of prohibited drugs and injections. These centres have been asked to provide sale and available stock record.

The move came in following the complaints received by CDSCO north zone against these 72 medical stores. As per the complaints the stores allegedly sells prohibited narcotics drugs and injections. A few of the complaints were related to black marketing of the medicines.


The team of CDSCO and drug administration conducted a raid in several medical centres in December and collected samples.


The drug administration records disclose a figure of 1620 medical wholesale dealers and 2626 retail shops in the district.


"Based on complaints against 72 medical shops, notices have been issued seeking a record of sale and the available stock. The business details will be verified. Strict action will be taken against those found involved in illegal business of pharmaceuticals," Assistant Commissioner, drug administration (Agra region), Shivsaran Singh told TOI.
