Aurobindo Pharma completes acquisition of Portugal’s Generis

Hyderabad : Aurobindo Pharma Ltd has completed the acquisition of Generis Farmaceutica S.A. in Portugal.

In January this year, Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma entered into an agreement entered into by Agile Pharma B.V., Netherlands, a wholly-owned step-down subsidiary of the company, to acquire 100 per cent shareholding in Generis Farmaceutica S.A for ₹969 crore (€135 million).

Generis is engaged in manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products in Portugal.

“All the formalities of and the process of acquisition have been completed on Friday,’’ the company informed the BSE today. As part of acquisition, Aurobindo got a manufacturing facility in Amadora, Portugal, which has the capacity to produce 1.2 billion tablets or capsules annually.
