Andhra Pradesh: Blast at Chemist shop, 2 dead

Though the cause of the fire is unknown, yet it is suspected that a blast in the AC compressor caused the incident. The cops found the dead body of the chemist and the other victim, who was holding screw-drivers and AC wires in his hand.

Guntur: In a tragic incident, a 40-year old chemist died a painful death inside his shop, Long Live Pharma due to an explosion that is suspected to have taken place while fixing an Air-Conditioner (AC) late night.

The incident took place on October 30 (Wednesday) around 2 am while the chemist, identified as Rama Rao and an unidentified man were busy fixing the AC inside the medical store situated in Viswasai Medical Complex. Suddenly, a heavy blasting sound was heard and the duo was killed on the spot.

Immediately, firefighters and the police rushed to curb and put out the fire caused due to explosion. The blast was powerful enough to disrupt the medical store and affected adjacent shops as well.

Though the cause of the blast is unknown, yet it is suspected that a blast in the AC compressor caused the incident. The cops found the victim holding screw-drivers and AC wires in his hand. An indoor unit of an air conditioner machine was also found lying on the floor of the shop.

The dead bodies were shifted to Guntur Government Hospital for post-mortem.

The incident triggered panic in the area. The deceased (chemist) was running a medical wholesale business for the past few years by renting a chemist shop at the complex.

As per a recent report in The New Indian Express, a probe is on to identify the other deceased and find out the reason behind the blast.
