1mg takes over Mumbai based e-hospital service MediAngels

Mumbai: With an aim to enter specialty doctor consultations, corporate health services and insurance partnerships online pharmacy 1mg Technologies Pvt. Ltd has acquired Mumbai-based MediAngels (Angels Health Pvt. Ltd).

The company has not disclosed its amount of takeover that is assumed to be in cash and stocks share.

MediAngels is an India-based multi-speciality 'e-hospital' service provider, managed by Angels Health Private Limited, a private medical consulting firm. Dr Debraj Shome and Dr. Arbinder Singal are the co-founders.

MediAngels as of now has a team of 300 doctors from over 85 super-specialty hospitals across 25 countries. Patients have the option to choose from amongst the panel of specialists available for each medical specialty and information including the resume as well as their degree and fellowship certificates of each specialist will be available on the website.

“Our consumers can now access a deep network of over 450 super specialists across India and the world, and we also get an entry into the corporate health space through this platform,” 1mg’s co-founder Prashant Tandon said in a statement, reports livemint.

“Within 1mg ecosystem, we plan to scale up second opinions and drive business to business (B2B) engagements with more insurers and corporates. Our robust technology tools will help them optimize employee benefits spends on healthcare and to have a healthier workforce,” said Singhal.

1 mg is an e-commerce health care company founded in 2015 by Prashant Tandon, Gaurav Agarwal and Vikas Chauhan. 1 mg operates an online marketplace for medicines, besides facilitating medical appointments and diagnostic test bookings.

1mg was earlier known as HealthkartPlus, the generic drug search business of HealthKart, an online vendor of health products run by Bright Lifecare Pvt. Ltd. In April 2015, HealthkartPlus spun off into a separate entity and rebranded itself as 1 mg.

“Arbinder will drive the corporate relations and the doctor specialist network. He will build the network in line with the online platform (of 1mg), expand (services in) B2B- by also offering them online pharmacy, diagnostics and doctor consultation and not only second opinion (services),” added Tandon.
