18 Medical stores inspected in Poonch, 1 sealed, expired drugs seized

Jammu: In the backdrop of complaints received from different quarters regarding spurious drugs being sold in the town, a team comprising of Assistant Drug Controller, Tehsildar Haveli and Drug inspectors on Tuesday carried out surprise inspection of 18 medical shops and collected 17 samples of various medicines for lab testing and analysis. The inspection was carried out on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad


The team also sealed one medical store for supplying of spurious drugs whereas it also served notice to another for keeping expired stock of medicines.


The Deputy Commissioner said the samples collected shall be sent for lab testing to ascertain the quality of drugs and appropriate action under rules shall be initiated in case of defaulters.


He said more such inspections shall be conducted in the district and sub-divisional level to keep a check on the quality of drugs being made available to the patients.
