18 held for smuggling banned medicinal plants in Bandipora

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested 18 persons for smuggling banned medicinal plants in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, a police spokesman said here on Saturday evening.


He said that Bandipora police, during separate naka checking at Bandipora and Pethakot seized approximately 4 quintals of banned medicinal plants, locally known as Sheetkaar which were being transported from the border area of Gurez in eight different vehicles.


He added that 18 persons were arrested and all the eight vehicles were also seized.
Police have registered four cases, two each in Bandipora Police Station and Pethakot Police station.
