Accused of Swindling lakhs of rupees, Pharma sales representative hangs self

The incident triggered everyone and the deceased's kin filed a complaint with the Byatarayanapura police alleging that the pharma firm's manager harassed the sales representative that compelled him to commit suicide.

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative, associated with Vimal Pharma International allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan after his co-employees accused him of misappropriating Rs 9.5 lakh.

The case relates to a resident of Raghavnagar, who was working with Vimal Pharma for almost five years. The pharma representative was accused of defrauding Rs 9.5 lakh by other employees. Following the accusation, the firm's manager, Garudappa moved a complaint with the Kempegowda Nagar police against him.

On October 6, 2019, the representative was called to the police station for interrogation regarding the complaint against him. A non-cognisable report (NCR) report was registered and he was released that evening with further instructions to visit the police station the next day.

After returning home he did not speak to anyone and locked himself inside his room. The next day his family members kept knocking at his door to wake him up. However, there was no response from inside. Subsequently, they broke open the door only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan via a cable.

A case under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the manager.

"We've asked him to bring documents regarding deceased's alleged misappropriation of money in the company," a senior police officer told Deccan Herald.
